Before you decide that you want to make a blog, or that you want to do everything you can to ensure your current blog takes off, do so with this in mind – blogging is hard. It’s extremely competitive, and it’s incredibly difficult to stand out amongst the hordes these days. I talk about it in more detail here, but here are some ways to guarantee blogging success.
There are numerous things you can do to improve how successful your blog is. I certainly don’t claim to be the best, and I always remind my readers that I blog for ME and not everyone else, but it’s also good to bear in mind a few things too…
As well as being organized and writing good quality content, there are other essential skills you need, especially if you want to become a professional blogger. It’s not as simple as merely picking the host platform, theme and publishing on the regular, but don’t worry, I’m here to help you where all of that’s concerned!
Become a Social Butterfly
I’m not talking about turning up to every party going (though if that’s your thing, go ahead – it could lead to some interesting blog posts), but networking online is your best chance at connecting with thousands of bloggers all over the world. Good Photography Skills
Most people say that the most important skill for any blogger to possess is the ability to write. I agree, you can’t have much of a blog without being able to write well. But another really important part of a successful blog is what your readers see. Images are how any blogger can bring their blog to life, so being able to take your own photos is a must. If you’re not too comfortable behind the camera then perhaps take a beginner photography course to improve that skill.
Get HTML Friendly
I’m not suggesting that you become a pro at HTML coding (if you do, perhaps consider doing that as a career as there is good money in that) but you should certainly learn the basics. Platforms like WordPress do all this stuff for you but learning the basic elements will help you to make a blog that looks unique. HTML cheat sheets
Learn How to Edit Your Photos
Taking part in a photography course is the first step, but learning how to edit your photos is where you’re really going to start making a difference. Images are your best shot at increasing your search rankings as no one wants to see anything that is too text heavy, but learning how to navigate your way around Photoshop is a priceless blogging skill to have.
