Guest Post: How to Get Your Belly Ready for Swimsuit Season

Swimsuit season is coming and if you are not ready to embrace some body positivity and show off your body the way it is, it’s still not too late to shave off some of that unwanted fat from your belly. Not to worry, I’m not going to just tell you to eat less and exercise more, that “secret” has been out for a very long time and it clearly doesn’t work for everyone, but maybe some of these other tips will:

Ditch the Transport

Moving is the best way to get your metabolism going, and moving absolutely doesn’t have to be just exercise. Throw away your car keys and the bus pass and start walking, cycling and roller skating to your destinations. This seemingly small increase in activity will do a lot more than it might look on the surface: by constantly using your muscles, you are never putting your body in a dormant state – which is when our metabolism slows down. If you have a desk job, try not to use the phone to contact your colleagues, but rather walk over to their desk and talk to them. When watching TV, try not to just sit or lay down, but rather watch it while ironing the clothes, doing some light stretches, or even just sitting up straight. In short: unless you are purposefully sleeping or resting, try to never be in a position where your body thinks it can fall asleep.

Hydrate

You probably already heard of the “drink a tall glass of water as soon as you wake up” tip – and it’s not just gibberish. Not only does if flush out the toxins, but it wakes up your body and tells your metabolism that it’s time to wake up and start working. You should always drink a glass of water or tea before eating because it will fill your tummy to a certain point and make you feel full sooner. We, as humans, tend to overeat, because the signal that goes from our belly to our brain telling us that we’re full isn’t instant, so by the time we get it, it’s already too late and we’ve eaten more than we should. Not to mention that water helps fight cellulite – the other enemy of summer and bikinis – and gives us smoother skin and better hair.

Targeted Fat Reduction

It is simply impossible to target the fat on one part of the body with good eating habits and exercise. Sure, doing certain exercise will give you better muscles in that area, but the fat we lose is the same all over our bodies. The only way to reduce fat in a specific, targeted area is with medical assistance. Don’t worry – in this day and age there is no need to go under the knife. Non-invasive treatments like cryolipolysis are available in some clinics, and they are great for people who want fast results and just don’t have the time to commit to a weight loss plan. But remember – this isn’t a magic wand: you will still have to change up your lifestyle if you want to maintain the results.

No matter what your summer goals are, there is no point in crash-dieting or boot camp workouts a few weeks before the summer. The only way you will be happy and healthy long-term is if you implement changes into your lifestyle that you can follow every day. Start with small, simple changes, and if they stick, you can work your way up to a lifestyle you want to lead. We all feel great when we look great, but it’s important to remember that all bodies are different and all we should be doing is try to be healthy and happy.

Guest Post: 7 Interesting Ways to Get your Summer Body Ready

Good news, guys! Summer’s near! Whether you like to swim, lounge on the beach or can’t wait for your exotic summer vacation, summer is loved by everyone. If you’re one of those people who live to look fit in your swimsuit, then it’s high time you started thinking about getting your summer body ready. One of the things you could do is hit the gym, but if that’s not your style, you can always try some fun alternatives and a few interesting tips that will get you summer-ready.

Work That Pole

If you have the space and are not afraid of hanging upside down from your bedroom ceiling, then definitely install a pole. It might seem silly at first, but just try doing some of the moves and soon you’ll realize just how much strength and endurance it requires. Pole dancing offers a serious full-body workout (especially for your core) and it will certainly get you toned for the summer. Did I mention it’s super fun, too?

Hit the Rocks

Ask anyone who ever tried rock climbing just how good a workout it is. If you decide to hit the rocks, you will experience a serious test of strength for almost all of your muscle groups. You will use your hands to pull and your legs to push and your core to keep you balanced and your brain to calculate the route and….you get it? It’s a fun full-body workout that will get you pumped and leave you asking for more.

Try LARPing

LARPing (Live Action Role Playing) can seem crazy for those who never tried it, but once you let your imagination fly, you’ll realize just  what a good way it is to stay fit. Choose a role play involving heavy costumes and swords and lots of running for dear life, and you’re guaranteed to have a serious workout (and some serious fun!).

Gaming

You might think that games only make you lazy and unproductive, but have you ever played Dance Revolution for an hour? Well, I have, and let me tell you how exhausting it is. You can play games such as tennis, dance, athletics, Olympics and many more on Xbox Kinect or Nintendo Wii. If you’re a big fan of games such as NFS or first-person shooters, you can challenge yourself by only playing standing up or do a quick set of sit-ups or lunges between the rounds.

Longboard

If you watched a movie or a music video with teens from the United States recently, then you must have seen them riding longboards. Longboards are making a huge comeback, and how could they not, when they’re so good for you. When longboarding you must move your feet and legs for propulsion and your arms and body for balance. This will give you a wide range of movements and make you burn a bunch of calories in the process. You will also work on your endurance that will come in handy during the long summer days. You can get some good longboards in skate stores almost anywhere in the United States and you can join the young crowd on the streets and get ready for the summer.

Drink Smart

When working on your summer body, you can’t forget about calories. Do you know how many calories there are in your Jack and Coke or in a single margarita? Between 250 and 500 calories! So, why not try some flavored vodkas instead? They come in many different flavors ranging from your regular fruity flavors to some more interesting combinations such as Cucumber and Basil or Caramel Apple. If you take it with a splash of soda and some lime, you’ll end up with a one-hundred-calorie drink.

Dress Your Salad

If you like to be generous when putting dressing on your salad, then try to avoid those creamy ones and opt for oil-and-vinegar-based ones instead. Another trick you can try is getting your dressing on the side, thus limiting the amount you use. Even though it sounds contradictory, skip the fat-free options. You need fat to feel full and better absorb all the nutrients from the salad.

Working on your summer-body doesn’t have to be all dieting and gym. You can have some fun along the way and enjoy other activities that are much more interesting than a stuffy gym. The only thing you need to do is be active and have some discipline, and when the summer comes you will be ready to shine in your bikini.

Get Lean this Summer

Summer might not be far away, but there’s still plenty of time to get lean before you have to bare all in a bikini. No matter where you are on your fitness journey, there are lots of things you can do to ensure that you look better by the time summer rolls around.

Here’s what you need to do to get lean this summer:

Ramp up the Cardio

If you have weight to lose, your first step should obviously be getting rid of those excess pounds. That means cardio and lots of it. Running, dancing aerobics – they will all help you to lose weight so that you can concentrate on leaning out and tanning up.

If you want to really ramp up your cardio weight loss, you could try exercising in a fasted state, which means that you would need to fit your workout in before your first meal of the day. There is some evidence to suggest that doing this will help your body to burn more fat. You can read more about fasted cardio at https://legionathletics.com/fasted-cardio/ if you’re unsure whether it’s a good idea for you to work out this way.

Increase Your Meals

In the spring and summer months when the weather is starting to get warmer, it’s easy for your appetite to slow to a crawl, but if you want to get lean, you need to be eating enough calories to support your body through exercise and help you to build lovely lean muscles. One trick that a lot of bodybuilders use is increasing their meal frequency so that they eat 5-7 smaller, light meals per day. Do this, and you’ll meet all of your calorie needs and keep your metabolism firing on all cylinders.

Get Toned in Ten

It might sound impossible, but you can actually get toned in as little as ten minutes. The workout program at http://www.piyoreviews.com/ will help you do just that if you stick to it religiously from now until summer, and combine it with some of the other tips in this post.

Stay Hydrated

I cannot stress just how important it is to stay hydrated when you’re working on cultivating a leaner body. If you are even a little bit dehydrated, your body’s fat-burning ability will slow down, you’ll feel terrible, and you’ll have a much tougher time getting through the exercise you need to get results.

Get Rid of Sugar

Nothing will ruin your efforts to get leaned more than a diet high in sugar. Sugar is nothing but empty calories which will quickly turn to fat in the body. It will also make you feel sluggish after the initial boost, naming it more difficult for you to stick to your diet and exercise regime. If you have a sugar craving, eat a piece of fruit instead. The sugar you get from fruits is healthier and less likely to lead to binges or crashes that say chocolate or candy.

Get a Fake Tan

Doing all of the above will help you to get leaner than you’ve ever been, but if you want to enhance your results, getting a spray tan, or faking your own bake will slim you down and give you an even leaner look. It’s okay to fake it sometimes!
