Guest Post: All-Natural Spring/Summer Skincare

Do you know that perfect looking, glowy summer skin you see being advertised everywhere?! It’s something that can make every woman jealous. Unfortunately, most of us are stuck with that not-so-perfect skin which often requires expensive treatments and all kinds of high-end cosmetic products we can’t afford. But don’t lose hope just yet! There is no need to spend your entire month’s salary on skincare products. Just follow these simple few steps which will make you achieve that flawless look you’ve always wanted:

Eat Healthy

You’ve heard it a million times before, fried and processed foods are your skin’s worst enemies. So, avoid eating greasy junk food.
Also, avoid sugar, unless you are using is as an exfoliator.

What you should do is stick to a healthy diet of these so-called “skin foods” which is the key to maintaining a healthy complexion.

Some of them are:

  • Cooked tomatoes – filled with Lycopene, the phytochemical that makes red, tomatoes help boost collagen strength which gives you that youthful structure.
  • Carrots – contain plenty of beta-carotene and vitamin A which prevent overproduction of cells in the skin’s outer layer.
  • Salmon – contains dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE), an amino acid compound that strengthens cell membranes and guards them against deterioration which causes premature aging.
  • Eggs – Always eat the entire egg. The yolk contains the “beauty vitamin” called biotin which helps protect skin from acne, rashes, and even dryness.
  • Blueberries – also known as nature’s number one superfoods. Packed with antioxidants, blueberries help your body fight cell-damaging and skin-aging free radicals. They also help boost the strength of collagen fibers.

Drink lots of fluids

With the upcoming warmer seasons, everything starts getting dry. Whether it’s water, tea or a fresh fruit juice, drink it as much as you can, whenever you can.

“Without adequate water intake, skin appears duller, and wrinkles and pores more prominent”, explains Rachel Nazarian, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist at the Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York City and an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Here are some of the essential facts when it comes to the importance of drinking water:

  • Water is essential to maintain the optimum skin moisture.
  • Water is a crucial factor when it comes to anti-ageing treatments – it keeps the skin well hydrated and glistening.
  • Drinking plenty of water battles skin disorders like psoriasis, wrinkles, and eczema.
  • Cold water makes pores tight thus preventing them from getting clogged.
  • A cold water bath soothes redness and prepares the skin for better makeup application.

Watch out for the Sun!

Avoid direct exposure to the sun during UV radiation hours – between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m, if you can’t then at least cover yourself.

If you want to work on your tan, do it early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Soaking up the sun accelerates the effects of aging and increases your chances of developing skin cancer.

Always use sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher.

Also, wear sunglasses with total UV protection or contact lenses which offer UV protection.

Use Natural skin care products

You should always prefer All-natural skin care products opposed to chemical ones. The simple reason is that the chances of side effects are immensely lower when it comes to going natural.

This is one of the most important things you can do for your skin!

Choose wisely! Use only high-quality cosmetic brands like Dermalogica which has almost 30 years of experience behind it and highly satisfied consumers all around the world.

Don’t buy products without doing research, read the labels to find the active ingredients and make sure they are suitable for your skin.

Create a daily skin care routine: The key to having a healthy skin is establishing what you need and sticking to it.

Try to remember that perfect, glowy skin actually comes from within. Take care of your body and in return, it will give you the flawless look you won’t ever get tired of flaunting.

Workout Recovery: Don’t Sweat It!

Every time you workout, you create tiny tears in your muscle tissue. This sensation is known as DOMS or the delayed onset of muscle soreness. Because of these microscopic tears, it’s vital that you recover properly after exercising. Otherwise, you will never fully reach your full potential, and that is a frightening thought. So, to help you out, we have come up with 4 of the best ways to recover after a workout. If you take these into consideration, you will feel like a million dollars. In fact, you’ll feel better!

Exercise Gaps

We know what you’re going through because everyone makes the same mistake when they’re over enthusiastic. You want to get fit, so you push your body to the limits. Yep, it feels like you’re doing the right thing at first, but then the stiffness starts and you can’t move. Simply put, you can’t exercise every day without feeling some pushback from your body. That’s why it’s essential that you leave gaps in between your workout plan. Do you like to go to the gym on Monday? Cool, but give it a miss on Tuesday. Or, do something that is less intense so as not to overload your body.

Hydrate

There are two things the body needs after a workout. One is nutrients, and the other is water. We will get onto nutrients in a moment, but let’s focus on H2O for now. When you exercise, your body uses what water you have in store to fuel the process. So, when you finish, you suffer from an H2O debt or dehydration. A lack of water will prevent your body from recovering from your last session, which is why you need to take on water. The average amount for a man is 3.7L a day and 2.7L for a woman according to www.mensfitness.com, but it should increase if you’re working out.

Refuel

Once you have enough water on board, it’s time to aid the recovery process with nutrients. As you know, the food you eat helps your muscles repair after an intense session. However, if you don’t eat the right foods, you won’t take on the proper nutrients and your body will suffer. This is where https://www.discountsupplements.ie comes in handy. Thanks to their range of protein products, there is no need to worry about your diet. Of course, you need to eat a variety of well-balanced foods to maintain your fitness. But, if you think you aren’t hitting your targets, there is always a supplement or two.

Sleep

Yep, sleep is the final piece of the jigsaw. You might not know it, but bedtime is the only chance the body gets to switch off. Sure, it doesn’t stop working altogether, but it does slow down. Plus, it also uses the time to regenerate muscle tissue. If you can develop a routine, your body will recover twice as quickly as it once did in the past. Yep, that is the importance of sleep to gym junkie.

As long as you follow these simple rules, post workout aches and pains should be a thing of the past.

Losing Weight and Feeling Full Isn’t a Myth!

When it comes to losing weight, there are lots of myths that exist, some which have been called out on this very blog. You see, the industry wants to sell as many units as possible, and they need to sell the ultimate pipe dream to do it. Don’t you know it, we then eat it up like a midnight snack after a heavy drinking session. Still, that doesn’t mean that every weight loss tactic that seems too good to be true is a lie. Yep, there are some that are truthful, like losing weight without feeling hungry.

If you’re looking to lose weight, you need to satiate your hunger to take on fewer calories. Here are the tips that will help you hit this goal. Just you wait: the weight will start to fall off your body!

Eat Breakfast

Is the reason you like to snack in the first place because you miss meals? For most people, breakfast isn’t a staple meal that they consume on a daily basis. Sure, you might think about it on a weekend when you have all the time in the world. But, during the week when there is no time to spare, breakfast isn’t even a consideration. The bad news is that you’re more likely to put on weight if you miss the most important meal of the day. Eating a bowl of cereal or munching on a piece of toast has advantages from starting your metabolism to filling your stomach. Breakfast might seem insignificant, but it sets you up for the rest of the day.

Replace Junk Food Snacks

Everyone loves to snack. After all, there can be a long time between feeling hungry and your next meal, so it makes sense to appease your stomach. Anything else is just masochistic! The problem with snacking, however, is the food that the average person consumes as nibbles tend to be unhealthy. You know, like chocolate and cakes instead of fruit and vegetable snacks. Although it might taste good, it won’t help you lose weight. In fact, you will probably start to put on more timber as a result. Thankfully, switching your snacking regime can make all of the difference. Eating carrot sticks and nuts between lunch and dinner is a healthy alternative that doesn’t increase fat pockets. Plus, there are nutritional foods that your body uses during exercise. See, everyone’s a winner.

Get More Fiber

Another thing that makes breakfast so important is fiber. You might not know this, but fiber is one of the best nutrients at helping tackle weight loss. Why? It’s because fiber is the nutrient that makes you feel full. It’s so bulky that the brain thinks it has consumed more food than it has, so it tells the stomach to stop whining. In simple terms, you can eat less without feeling like you’re going to starve to death. Cereals, a typical breakfast dish, are full of fibrous qualities, and that makes breakfast even more crucial. But, don’t only rely on cereals because there is fiber in all different foods. And, the more you have, the less you will want to eat throughout the day.

Mind Over Matter

What people don’t realize is that the brain controls your hunger. The stomach relays the message, and the brain picks it up and takes action. So, when the brain tells your stomach you aren’t hungry anymore, your appetite subsides. The savviest among you will understand that this is an opportunity as it’s possible to control your mind. The easiest trick is to forget about food altogether. That way, your body won’t crave it as much, and there is no need to eat anymore. Another option is to use a nootropic fat burner to supplement your diet. These burners work with the brain to increase your feeling of well-being, which in turn controls your appetite. Don’t worry: they aren’t psychedelic drugs! They are nutrients which have a successful track record regarding weight loss.

Go Fish

The word ‘fat’ might fill you with enough dread to last a lifetime. It isn’t uncommon for almost everyone to assume that all fats are bad. They aren’t. Some are, like saturated fats because they are so hard to break down. As a result, the body stores them as fat which adds to the problem. Omega-3 fatty acids, one the other hand, are like a super nutrient. Quite simply, this fat deals with everything from hunger to bad joints and aches and pains, so there is no need to cut down. Indeed, you need to increase your intake by adding more fish to your diet. Fish are super foods because they contain mines of Omega-3, not the other way around. Salmon is one of the best fishes to eat because it includes a whopping 1,210 milligrams of omega-3 per every 3 ounces.

Drink Water

One of the most common health mistakes is to mistake hunger for thirst. Yep, even after all of these years on Earth you still might not know the difference. And, it’s a pretty big deal when it comes to losing weight. For starters, you’re consuming more calories than you need to, and you’re doing it on a constant basis. If you can tell the difference, you can cut your intake by a dramatic amount. Even if you do feel hungry, have a glass of water. The fluid will block up your stomach so that the last thing you want to do is eat. If you want to cut back, water is the key.

Treat Yourself

Having a treat works in two ways. To begin with, it keeps your mind motivated. Eating healthy is a routine that gets monotonous after a while, so a treat is more than necessary. Plus, the right treat can have a welcome effect. Certain junk foods will fill you up more than any piece of fruit or vegetable. As a result, it can set you up for the rest of the day.

Sometimes, losing weight is all about being sneaky!

It’s A Long Summer Run Ahead

Getting out and about and exercising during the summer months is so rewarding. We get nicer weather to make the most of, longer days to utilize and everybody tends to feel a lot happier about themselves. It’s a one-way ticket to success if you start your workout regime at this time of the year, but few people tend to see that. They stick with the idea that starting off at the gym and getting fit and healthy in January is the way to go. Who wants to push their body to the limits in the cold when you’ve got the option of embracing nature and the outdoors when the temperature starts to rise?

Make The Most Of The Weather

We get summer for a few months each year. There are places all around the world that are lucky enough to have it almost all year round, but for the majority of us, we are stuck with the seasons. And who can begrudge that? It offers variety to our training regime and ensures that we are not bored on a day to day basis.

We see different things when we are out running and it gives s the chance to get creative with our routes. Stick to the same thing every single day, and you’ll soon begrudge the reason that you’re running and grow complacent and bored with what you’re doing. While the weather is fair and you can get the most out of your days, try and extend your running path a little further each time. Most marathons and training events happen over the summer, so entering yourself for one at the start of summer to complete at the end is a perfect goal to aim for.

Remember To Fuel Your Body

It’s easy to forget just how much more water your body needs when it’s warmer than it does compared to the colder months. It’s also easy to forget that you need to switch up your foods to cater for the fact that your body will naturally burn more calories in warmer weather.

If you are looking to run for weight loss rather than fitness; then supplement with something like Royal 21 Queen and ensure that you are eating a balanced diet. However, if it’s solely for fitness, then you need to make sure that you are taking care of your body in the way it needs to be taken care of. Eating the right food for your body is like fuelling a car; if you are running on gas, it’s silly to put diesel into it. It won’t work.

It’s the same with what you eat before a big run. If you are eating a lot of the wrong foods, your body won’t work in the way that you want it to. You need complex carbohydrates to give you a slow release of energy throughout. Make sure that you have drunk plenty before you set off if you are averse to carrying water around with you. Think about the treats that you can have after your run – the healthy eating binge doesn’t have to last forever!

Take Note Of Your Statistics

If you have a smartwatch such as a FitBit, it’s easy to keep track of how many calories you are burning, what your pulse rate is like throughout your run and how far you have traveled. It’s a good idea to take a note of these statistics and have them on file. There are a few reasons for this.

The first is that it’s a real motivation for you to see how far you’ve come from the start of the summer to the end. It’s a great feeling to look down and see that you’ve burned X amount of calories as well as running X amount of distance.

The second is to be able to gauge how many calories you are burning over a period of time to be able to fuel yourself efficiently.

The third is to notice any anomalies in what you are doing and bring them to attention. If you have noticed that your heart rate is deviating from the norm after you have reached a plateau, or are seeing that you’re not running somewhere as fast as you were and reached your destination in a time that reflects the amount of work that you’ve put into your training, it may be time to seek the help of a professional.

Even if it’s just a false alarm, it’s still a good idea to get checked over to ensure that you are doing everything right and there’s not something happening within your body. This can be harder to pick up on in colder months as your body has to continually adapt to the temperature outside and takes longer to warm up. Use the summer months as your motivation to finding out the cause of a problem, if there are any.

Get Social, Pick A Buddy!

The tremendous thing about running in the summer is that you will have people who are willing to do it with you. Whether they’re novices or advanced in their field, running with a partner in tow can do wonders for your motivation – and theirs. Remember to take it at a pace that suits the both of you, or pair up with other people who are on their level if they are uncertain that they’ll be able to keep up at all.

We all had to start somewhere, and it bodes well to humble yourself and remember that when trying to introduce other people to a sport that you may well be a whizz at. It takes a certain amount of dedication, a pinch of time and a whole lot of luck and talent to be exquisite at something, so nurture the person who decides to take this step and support them on their journey. If they don’t like it, don’t worry – it’s summer, and you are totally free to do what you want!
